A couple of days ago we bought you news about the most recent Powerball winners and the doubts that had been raised about the validity of their claim after a family friend had come forward with details of a fourth winner that wanted to keep his identity hidden. We like to keep you updated on all of our stories so though you would like to know that the three men involved have now sworn an affidavit to confirm they are the only legitimate winners.

This story unfolded last week after the three partners in a wealth management company came forward after two weeks to confirm they were the Powerball winners after one of them picked up a ticket when stopping for gas. The partners had formed The Putnam Avenue Family Trust and promised to use their massive win to help good causes. The sheepish behaviour of the winners and their refusal to answer questions all added fuel to the fire and we were all left wondering if the Connecticut Lottery Company would validate their claim and pay out the huge jackpot.

Thankfully all of this confusion has now been cleared up after the three Powerball winners swore the affidavit the day after the press conference. The Connecticut Lottery Company is happy that all of their rules were adhered to and have handed over the prize money which worked out to be $104.5 million after taxes from the Powerball Lotto results of 29th October 2011. The three lucky men have already being true to their word and used their new foundation to donate $1 million to five charities that help veterans returning home from deployment overseas.
