A couple in their early 40s say they will spend some of their €7.3 million Irish Lotto winnings on a dream house, complete with pinball table and indoor slide! The pair eventually came forward to collect their bounty after matching all six main numbers in the draw on Saturday 19th September on a ticket bought from the Supervalu shop at Dun Laoghaire’s Killiney Shopping Centre.

Their entry was valid for eight draws and the couple admitted they didn’t usually check their numbers until all the draws had been played, but as the husband recalled in The Journal, “I’d heard on the radio that a syndicate had won the jackpot, and I usually wait until the 8 draws are over on the ticket before I check it. So I put it into a ticket checker in a shop in Killiney and the message told me to contact National Lottery offices.

I thought ‘that’s strange’ so when I went back to the office, I put in the numbers on the web checker and all these fireworks went off. But I still didn’t believe anything great had happened.”

It was only after he returned home and checked again online that the family began to accept that they were due a big payday. They celebrated with their young children by going out for desserts and have now compiled a wish list for their newfound fortune.

The indoor slide will be a major feature of the family’s new dream home, for which they are now hunting after years of renting. They also intend to buy a popcorn maker, install a home cinema and take trips to Disneyland in Florida, Jamaica and to Venezuela to witness lightning storms.

If you would like to follow in their footsteps, Irish Lotto tickets are on sale for tonight’s €3.5 million draw and you can get hold of them at authorised retailers in Ireland or through the link on the homepage, wherever you are. good luck!

The UK winner of a £22.4 million (€30.9 million) EuroMillions jackpot from Tuesday 8th September has claimed their fantastic eight-figure windfall. After contacting lottery officials, successful players arrange to meet an official Winners’ Advisor, who validates their claim before offering the ticket holder the option to announce their good news in public at a press conference, release details such as their job and location or simply stay anonymous.

No details have currently been revealed about last week’s winner, who has become the sixth UK player in 2015 to scoop the top prize in the popular pan-European lottery. They follow in the footsteps of Lincolnshire couple Richard and Angela Maxwell, who bagged £53.1 million (€73.5 million) in the draw on Tuesday 31st March, an anonymous ticket holder who won £28.5 million (€40.2 million) on Friday 14th August and an anonymous player who matched all five main numbers and two Lucky Stars on Friday 12th June to bank £93.3 million (€129.2 million).

The ticket holder is the 52nd UK jackpot winner in the history of EuroMillions, placing the nation in fourth on the list of participating countries. France tops the board with 78 wins, ahead of Spain on 74 and Portugal with 56 winners.

This evening’s EuroMillions draw will offer a £15 million (€21 million) jackpot after no one could claim the top prize in the draw on Friday 11th September. There will certainly be cause for one UK player to celebrate tonight, with a guaranteed £1 million prize being awarded to the ticket holder who matches the winning Millionaire Maker code.

EuroMillions tickets are on sale now online and from authorised retailers. Good luck!

UK Wins its 51st EuroMillions Jackpot

Tonight’s EuroMillions jackpot will revert back to its base value of £10 million (€15 million) after a UK player snapped up a £28.5 million (€40.2 million) bounty on Friday night. The ticket holder is the 51st Briton to scoop the top prize in the popular pan-European game, putting the nation fourth in the list of most successful EuroMillions jackpot-winning countries.

Portugal lies five ahead of the UK on 56 jackpot wins, trailing Spain in second. A total of 74 Spanish tickets have matched all five main numbers and two Lucky Stars, four fewer than France, which boasts 78 top prizes since the game began in 2004.

However, players in the UK tend to do better than their European cousins in the other prize tiers, regularly winning far more cash amounts in each individual EuroMillions draw than any other nation. For example, Friday 14th August saw 630,512 UK tickets claim awards ranging from £3.40 (€4.30) for matching two main numbers up to the eight-figure jackpot. Compared with the next best-performing nation, Spain, with 451,668 winning tickets sharing a prize pool of just €3.5 million, that’s a rather good result!

In addition, one UK player is guaranteed to win £1 million every time EuroMillions is played, thanks to the Millionaire Maker supplementary game.

EuroMillions tickets are available now for tonight’s £10 million draw, with sales closing at 7:30pm BST (8:30pm CEST). You can get hold of them online or by popping into your nearest authorised retailer. Perhaps you could strike it lucky and become British jackpot winner number 52!

A loyal group of paper mill workers from Stalybridge say they have no plans to leave their jobs despite scooping just short of £3 million on Saturday’s UK Lotto. The five-man syndicate from John Hargreaves Paper Mill Operators in Stalybridge won a share of the £8.8 million triple rollover jackpot, netting each of them £590,000. Yet despite their new found fortune, work still comes first for the hardworking machine operators.

The Agnati Crew Syndicate owe their name to the machinery they use and have refused to walk away or take any time off due to the heavy workload. Leader of the syndicate, Gary Smith, said, “The company is quite short staffed at the moment so we didn’t want to just take time off or walk away because of our win.

“I have worked at the mill for 26 years and have a real close affinity with the company. None of us have any plans to give up work, plus we are really busy at the moment.

“We are all close friends in addition to being work colleagues. Despite one of the syndicate members being retired he has continued to pay in. We are all really close.”

The 53 year-old Stalybridge resident says cars, mortgages and exotic holidays are on the agenda for himself and the rest of the syndicate, but not until work at the factory has died down!

The rest of the syndicate is made up of David King, Andrew Howard, Peter Howard and Philip Mellon, who are all looking forward to a secure future.

Operations Director Nick Hargreaves was quick to praise his loyal lottery winners, saying, “I am absolutely delighted for the syndicate. They have a combined loyalty to this company of more than 100 years.

“They are a fantastic team of workers and I am obviously really pleased they have decided to continue to work and not leave the factory. They are a key part of our success story and a part of the family.”

The Agnati Crew Syndicate have been playing the UK Lotto for over 10  years and have always played the same set of numbers, chosen from birthdays and other special dates. They bought their winning ticket from B&J Wine and Food Store in Wakefield Road, Stalybridge, matching all six of the main draw numbers for the draw, which were 3, 5, 9, 28, 35 and 47. The Bonus Ball for the Lotto draw in question was 14.
