Patricia Daly who is originally from Ireland but now lives in New York won a massive $21.5 million back in January but opted to take an $8 million lump sum instead.

One lucky American spent this 4th July as a multi-millionaire after scooping a massive $105 million Mega Millions Jackpot. The winner who is yet to come forward purchased the winning ticket at a Giant Food store in Herndon, Virginia and matched all five numbers; 12, 17, 30, 35, 47, and the Megaball number 26 and as there was only one winner it is one of the biggest jackpots of the year so far.

The National Lottery operators have recently announced record breaking Lotto profits showing nearly a 7% increase in sales based on the same time last year. In the year to March the National Lottery operator has made a whopping £5.6 billion through ticket sales. This increase has beaten the previous record of £5.5 billion set between 1997 and 1998 and is an amazing result considering seven of the ten biggest lotteries in the world showed a fall in sales over the last year.
